The last seven days have firmly placed me on my butt. From personal grief to work woes to friends in turmoil, everything has hit at once and I can say without a doubt that I need a drink. Actually for my friends in Detroit and in Atlanta, that would be a drank….
Fortunately, I have the perfect “drank” to combat my woes. It’s a libation I am calling Pink Heat…..a tart cocktail that packs a wallop thanks to the inclusion of Hanger One Chipotle Vodka but it mellowed by one of my new favorite mixers, Wild Poppy’s Blood Orange Chili juice. It’s a walk on the wild side hidden in a cute package. I liken this drink to the girl bully we all had in elementary school that wore dresses but still would kick your butt at recess. I can only imagine this is the drink she now drinks all grown up…….
- 1 jigger of Hanger One Chipotle Vodka
- 1 jigger of Cielo Rojo Bacanora
- 3 jiggers of Wild Poppy Blood Orange Chili juice
- 1 teaspoon of agave syrup
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
- chili flakes (decoration)
Mix sugar and chipotle powder on a small saucer. Moisten rim of glass and roll edge in sugar mixture. Set aside. In a cocktail shaker add vodka, bacanora, juice & agave syrup with ice and shake. Place one large ice cube & strained mixture into rimmed glass. Garnish with a pinch of chili flakes.
